Sleeping - The Importance of Sleep for a Long Life.

It is well documented that lack of sleep can affect performance in all aspects of life - sometimes leading to accidents or death. Lack of sleep muddles your brain and activities, but there is substantial scientific evidence to prove that not enough sleep can lead to a shorter life - much shorter.

Whilst there are no scientific records to support that people can actually die from lack of sleep, there are many studies that prove lack of sleep leads to several conditions that will certainly shorten life! Just the fact that it impairs the function of the immune system should be enough to alert you to the dangers of lack of sleep.

Decision making and judgment are two of the first casualties of poor sleep. Add to this the impairment of memory, and you realise that there are short term problems associated with 'not enough sleep' that can cause you many problems in personal and professional life.

It is not simply not enough sleep - but also interrupted or troubled sleep that is a major problem in the quest for extending that life of yours to what you are entitled to! Sleep is important for life! there are several stages in the sleep process - all being important for specific chemical reactions which are necessary for long life.

Sleep is essential for renewing and re-generation of countless cells within the body and brain. Without the proper dose of sleep, premature ageing will occur - often leading to many otherwise preventable diseases and conditions.

Perhaps the best call to action is the fact that lack of sleep makes you look much older than you are! Appearance is the all important factor for many people, yet the importance of proper sleep time goes much further than that - as we will show in the accompanying pages.

Although there are recommended times for sleep, humans differ in their sleep requirements. There is genetic evidence surfacing to back this up. However, most people need in the order of eight hours uninterrupted sleep - minimum - in order to replenish the reserves that are essential to long life - FACT.
